Aspiring Artist Program

This program provides a venue and opportunities for aspiring artists to perform symphonic works, art song, oratorio, opera , theater and composition.

The goal of this program is to train, develop, and provide internship and master class learning in order to improve skills and become a world class artist.


Music As A Healer

Music as a Healer ™ provides music and education to the school community as well as the senior community as it relates to classical music and its healing qualities. calming the soul while enhancing health and wellness. partnership opportunities with non-profit organizations, health services organizations, hospitals, social service agencies, schools, churches, senior living facilities of all types. The Music As A Healer ™ program is available to persons ages 5 through end of life.


Opera Roots

The purpose of the musical arts enrichment programs is to expose children of all ages to classical music and the origins in African culture.

This program opens the opportunity for students who wish to pursue a career in classical music, the change to gain knowledge in vocal performance which will be a core requirement in their course of study and in identifying their core talent. In addition, the elements of this program will develop character, discipline, and a commitment to achieve their goals.

The program includes vocal development, poise, information tools with regard to voice training, care of the voice, practice methods, music history, a study of African American and African Descent classical composers, master classes and a final performance by the participants of the program.


Opera Roots

This program allows young and mature persons to express themselves creatively using their broad and imaginative skills to create an opera work.

Participants create themes, titles, libretti, characters, music and production essentials. The product is a complete work with costumes, cast, directors, writers and composers. This program is a six month series. The venue will be provided by the Grace City Opera Theatre at the end of the program and participants will perform for family, friends, and invited guests.

This program will serve African American students and adults
in underserved communities who wish to explore the genre of
classical music, the origins and history of classical music in African culture and learn about African American and African Descent classical composers and singers throughout history.

College students will have an opportunity to earn college credit while working with the grace city opera theatre as an unpaid intern or volunteer.

Community

The Grace City Opera Theatre will perform for the community four times per year. These performances will also provide education about opera and allow the audience questions and answer periods. Some operas will be updated to bring the story into today’s world.


Public Performance

The Opera Theatre will perform one African American or African Descent opera per year. These performances will have a donation process for the audience. The donation amount will be set by the opera company. Performances will take place in a venue that can accommodate staging and theatrical performance. In addition the company will perform concerts, oratorio, and opera scenes concerts as a part of the regular season.
